Samantha Carrillo Fields was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. She attended Dupre Elementary, Dunbar Junior High Science Academy, and graduated from Monterey High School. She received her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Eastern New Mexico University in 2009.
During her time at ENMU, Samantha met her husband, Devin, and followed him to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls where he completed his Master’s Degree in History. Upon completion of his degree and ending her employment at the Wichita Falls Health Department with WIC, the family relocated to Lubbock to continue Devin’s work on his Ph.D. in History at Texas Tech University. While here in Lubbock, Samantha and Devin have raised two children who attend Ramirez Elementary School and have become active participants in the Lubbock County Democratic Party.
Samantha is currently a board member of the South Plains Chapter of Texas Democratic Women, the Panhandle Regional Director for Texas Young Democrats, a regional board member for Our Revolution Texas/South Plains-Panhandle, a member of the Lubbock Tejano Democrats, Lubbock Area Young Democrats, and South Plains Advocates for Rights and Community. She has also helped organize voter registration efforts throughout the county, including local high schools and community events.
